The Urban Social Project is a commercial + residential project I completed in the Fall of 2021, my third semester at Century College. The goal of the project was to build out a commercial space within the first and second floors, with the third floor being private residential space for the owners. ADA accessibility codes in the public spaces were to be met while incorporating sustainable design concepts throughout the project. The programing states the commercial space is to be for an art gallery, but we were given the creative freedom to come up with our own concept for the space while meeting the given requirements. My concept for the first and second level is a co-working space, a space that promotes collaboration and creativity within the community. I developed the existing floor plans in AutoCAD then transferred to SketchUp to render. I specified finish selections for three rooms, one from each floor which included cabinetry, paint, flooring, furnishings, and lighting, along with elevations of the space.
